A Manic Mom Thought: What Happened to Sunday Being a Day of Rest?

🌿 Sunday Morning πŸ•ŠοΈ l 10.18.2026

Dressing in our Sunday best. πŸ‘’
Going to church.
Gathering around the table for a family dinner, or inviting someone over so they didn’t have to spend the day alone. πŸ’›

Relaxing. Reflecting. Taking an evening walk.

Or maybe, for you, it was a picnic in the park with your kids. 🌿

We all have different memories of what Sundays looked like, but there was something special about setting aside a day to slow down and enjoy the life we were building.

So when did Sunday become another day to catch up?
Another day to finish the work we didn’t get done during the week.
Another day to tackle the laundry that’s already beginning to pile up.
Another day to rush around preparing for Monday before we’ve even had a chance to breathe.

Somewhere along the way, we started treating rest like a reward we could only enjoy once everything else was finished.

But what if everything doesn’t have to be finished?

What if the laundry can wait?
What if the house can be lived in for one more day?

What if, instead of spending Sunday preparing for the next six days, we take a little time to actually enjoy the life we’re working so hard to maintain?

Go to church. Invite someone to dinner. Sit on the porch with your coffee. Take the kids to the park. Read a book. Go for a walk. Spend time with the people you love. Call someone you miss.

Or simply do a little less.

Rest isn’t wasted time.
Even God rested on the seventh day. πŸ•ŠοΈ

Maybe it’s time we brought a little more Sunday back into our Sundays.

Take the breath. β€’ Put down the to-do list. β€’ Make room for rest.

The laundry, the chores, and the exhaustion will still be there tomorrow. πŸ˜‚πŸ§Ί
